Day 31

Are you tired of walking in my winter wonderland yet? I'll bet not, since it's in my backyard, and not yours.

Sunday, January 30, 2011

Day 30

Take a picture of something circular or rounded.

It's our Hanukkah bowl, given to me by my son for Christmas, to fill with candy! What says festivities better than multiple holidays on one table?

Saturday, January 29, 2011

Day 29

Take a picture of the most beautiful thing you've seen today.

Easy. The love between a dog and his boy.

Friday, January 28, 2011

Day 28

Take a picture from a low point of view.

How about looking up at winter trees? My crabapple tree to the left, and a Norway Maple centered on the picture.

Thursday, January 27, 2011

Day 27

Take a photo with stripes.

How about icicles? Notice that some run at an angle, instead of straight down, because their weight pulled the bush over somewhat, and then others formed and run straight down.

Also notice the munton bars on my window. You didn't think I tromped through the snow for a close up picture of icicles, did you?

Day 26

Today's topic: A monochromatic photo.

This is the original picture.
And this is the same picture in black and white. Not much difference, is there?

Tuesday, January 25, 2011

Day 25

My back yard when it's 25 degrees instead of 2.5 degrees.

It almost seems warm! Almost.

Monday, January 24, 2011

Day 24

Take a picture of a triangle.

Giant hemlocks. About 40 feet high. In 6 degree weather.

Sunday, January 23, 2011

Day 23

Show a path leading the viewer through the picture.

How about Thor's footprints in the snow, leading the viewer to more snow? Brrr.

Saturday, January 22, 2011

Day 22

Ice on the branches of my little cherry tree, at night. Another nekkid winter tree.

Friday, January 21, 2011

Thursday, January 20, 2011

Day 20

Winter trees, again. Specifically, these giant pine boughs are weighted down by ice, illuminated by my outdoor lighting. And I love my new compact flourescent floodlights, which produce 500 watts of illumination for 40 watts of power!
(These pictures won't be possible in June, after all!)

Wednesday, January 19, 2011

Day 19

Theme of the week: Winter Trees
We have an abundance of them. This was covered in ice around midnight last night. I love the bluish light from our new CFL bulbs.

Tuesday, January 18, 2011

Day 18

Today's challenge: A photo with a soft look.

How about some nice spring fabrics?

Monday, January 17, 2011

Day 17

Today's theme: Blue

A dog and his new blue elephant. How much better does life get?

Sunday, January 16, 2011

Day 16

Take a picture of complementary subjects.
Bread and butter; what's more elemental than that?

Saturday, January 15, 2011

Day 15

Challenge: Take a picture of motion.

Nothing compares to my picture of the motorcycle riders in a cage at the circus. Talk about motion!

Friday, January 14, 2011

Day 14

The Daily Shoot's assignment: Take a picture of a tag.
There are plenty of tags on my keys, but this one is the very most important! That's why it says right on it, "21 year member!"

Thursday, January 13, 2011

Day 13

Today's topic: something shiny or glossy but not transparent.

How about a cherry table with mirrored candlestick holders on it?

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

Day 12

Today's topic: Feature or use liquid as a subject.

Pouring hot tea while awaiting the snowstorm.

Tuesday, January 11, 2011

Day 11

Illustrate or show rhythm in a photograph.

The bell in my attic. It would be rhythmic if we chose to ring it.

Monday, January 10, 2011

Day 10

Take a picture that evokes a special memory of something or someone.

One of each of my children's first shoes. Some were walked in, others not. The mate to each is in each child's baby book.

Sunday, January 9, 2011

Day 9

Take a picture of something blue.

Doesn't everyone sort their candies by color?

Saturday, January 8, 2011

Day 8

Today's topic: Converging lines
The music stand on my undusted piano. *sigh* I really need to dust before I shoot.

Friday, January 7, 2011

Day 7

Today's suggestion: high contrast photo with tons of pop.

How about the Christmas plate that broke last night? Great contrast between the plate and dark counter, and if not pop, it has plenty of something - maybe pieces?

Thursday, January 6, 2011

Day 6

Today's topic: Take something ordinary and make it beautiful.

Books. Paperback or hardbound, plain or fancy, they are our transportation to other worlds. Best of all, no batteries required!

Wednesday, January 5, 2011

Day 5

Take a picture with a diagonal line leading the eye through the composition.

You can see that I neglected to sweep my kitchen floor, which is tiled in a diagonal pattern.

Tuesday, January 4, 2011

Day 4

Today's project is to photograph a symbol or icon.

This is the symbol that matters most to me in the world. After 31 years, it still fills me with joy.

Monday, January 3, 2011

Day 3

Today's suggestion was: Texture
I didn't like this painting when we bought it, but the blue boat has grown on me. I also like the textured oil paint.

Sunday, January 2, 2011

Day 2

Illustrate a fresh start or a new beginning.

Thor has a new elephant! A fresh start in bargaining with his people for food or playtime.

Saturday, January 1, 2011

Day 1

I realized at 2AM that I'd forgotten to make waffle batter for New Year's Day breakfast. A good start to the year.
