Day 90

This guy was outside Joann's Fabric when I got there Saturday. I've seen him before, of course, but never looked hard at him.

Day 89

Heading out at dusk on Saturday, looking down the hill from my house. It's a little blurry, but I guess that's to be expected when you just stick your arm out the car window and hope.

Day 88

Convey warmth in a photograph.

Again, Because I could do so. Isn't this a wonderful place to curl up with a good book on a cold day?

Monday, March 28, 2011

Day 87

Convey warmth in a photograph.

This oil came from an art gallery on the Kingston Pike in Knoxville back in 1988 or thereabouts. It reminds me of a warm spring day.

Sunday, March 27, 2011

Day 86

Take a photo that incorporates a circle.

My grandfather clock's face, globe decoration and pendulum are all circles. I love this clock.

Saturday, March 26, 2011

Day 85

The challenge: Illustrate the idea of freshness.

What better way than fresh snow? It would be nice if this were the last snow of the season.

Friday, March 25, 2011

Day 84

What reminds you of home? Show it in a picture.

Rhododendrons. I have one outside my kitchen window, which grows to block it no matter how ferociously I trim it, so they remind me of home. I believe this one to be at least 30 years old, and possibly much older!

Thursday, March 24, 2011

Day 83

Today's challenge: Illustrate the rule of thirds.

Snow trees, naturally.

Wednesday, March 23, 2011

Day 82

Today's topic: Convey the feeling of being outside.

Baby, it's cold out here. But that's what a spring storm does to you.

(I give up on catching up on a week's worth of sickness. I'll just have to endure the skip in the numbers.)

Day 77

Thor brought his toy Ele-Fun to the kitchen. I believe he thought he could trade it for some green cake.

Friday, March 18, 2011

Day 76

Today's theme: Reflection

My son rebuilt these stairs; I love their reflection in the mirror at the bottom of the staircase.

Thursday, March 17, 2011

Day 75

Today's challenge: Take a photograph of your own hand doing something.

Threading a sewing machine, which I can only do left handed.

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

Day 74

Today's challenge: Take a picture outdoors without an obvious horizon.

No big deal. The trees hide it.

Tuesday, March 15, 2011

Day 73

I'm almost glad I had to get up early to see my boy off to high school, because the sky was so pretty. Almost.

Monday, March 14, 2011

Day 72

Today's challenge: Take a picture of something amusing.
Thor, all worn out after playing with his elephant, taking a snooze yet still ready to play.

Sunday, March 13, 2011

Day 71

A shot from Monday, after the ice storm. Today is dreary, but at least it's melting.

Saturday, March 12, 2011

Day 70

It means staying with your boy even when he's doing something boring like reading.

Friday, March 11, 2011

Day 69

Today's challenge is to show naturally occurring beauty.
That's always easy outdoors in my little corner of the world.

Thursday, March 10, 2011

Day 68

The challenge: Take a picture of something glowing.

The sun behind the ice covered tree makes the tree glow. Best of all, no limbs broke off the tree.

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

Day 67

The challenge: Take a photograph that features a shadow.

That's easy on the sunny day after a snowstorm.

Tuesday, March 8, 2011

Day 66

Today's challenge is to take a low contrast photograph.

This is the texture of snow, left behind as the lighter powder blew away.

Monday, March 7, 2011

Day 65: Waiting

Thor is always fearful that when one of his people leave, they won't come back for a long time. Dan left his shoes with Thor for reassurance, because, as Dan said, "Humans can't leave for the Big World without shoes."

Sunday, March 6, 2011

Day 64

Which is really Day 65. I missed Saturday; I was lazy.

Early morning looking out my front door. It's no longer dark or sunrise when Ryan leaves for school! Hooray!

Friday, March 4, 2011

Day 63

Take a picture from an unusual perspective.

One shouldn't look up while standing at the front door of my house. It's enough to make you dizzy.

Thursday, March 3, 2011

Day 62

If lying on the floor in the sunshine is good enough for a dog, it should be good enough for his boy, too.

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

Tuesday, March 1, 2011

Day 60

The challenge: To take a picture that makes something look larger than it is.

This snow mound is only about 2 feet high, blocking egress through the porch door. Somehow it looks bigger when it's at eye level.
